The Officer rural fire brigade is 100% volunteer operated.
Officer is a small rural town located approx. 50 kilometres ( 32 miles
) South-East from Melbourne in the State of Victoria, Australia. Officer
has a population of approx. 1,310 people (estimate 1997). The Officer area
consists of low lying grass land to the south and dense bush and scrub
covered foothills of the Dandenong Ranges to the north. Officer is centred
on the Princes Highway (Highway No.1), which circumnavigates Australia.
